As you are aware we are now beginning the GCSE examination period for which students have been preparing throughout Years 10 & 11. We hope students approach this in a mature manner and revise fully for each examination. We ask parents to support and ensure that students are well prepared. Please ensure that the individual examination timetable which you should have now received is displayed somewhere prominently in the house so no exam is missed. A timetable is also displayed outside the Sixth Form Centre for students' reference and this is where seating plans will be posted as each examination gets closer. Dates will also appear in the school Newsletter on a weekly basis.
Please make sure your child has the equipment they need to be successful (pens, calculators etc) and help and support them with their revision planning, keeping them on schedule and, most important of all, make sure they eat and sleep well so they perform at their best. All students are also expected to present themselves for their examinations in full school uniform.

Wednesday 3rd July 2013
In order to celebrate the beginning of your Post 16 experience we have arranged a visit to Oxford University which we hope will be both educational and inspirational. Students will experience a varied programme which will include: Mass at Oriel College (where Cardinal Newman was a student and a chaplain), a visit to one of the university colleges and either a walking tour of the city, a chauffeured punt on the river or an opportunity to visit either the Pitt Rivers Museum,The Botanical Gardens or The Ashmolean Museum.

This week (20th – 24th) sees the return of the national campaign to encourage pupils to Walk To School. Our previous walk to school campaign in November was extremely successful and we have seen an increase of 7% of pupils walking to or from school. With the improving weather, it would be great to see even more pupils walking or using their bike to get to school.

Back in March this year, one of our fantastic Year 10 Creative Arts students, Maisy Kelly in JF06 decided that she wanted to go to Lourdes with the chaplaincy team. Even though it was potentially too expensive, this did not put Maisy off and instead of giving up she asked our Headteacher, Mrs Kelly, for permission to raise some of the money by organising a fundraising concert in the Theatre.

Message From The Headteacher |

Over the last few weeks we have had a drive on punctuality and we really appreciate your support in ensuring students arrive at school for 8.30am ready to start lessons at 8.40am. There has been a significant improvement in punctuality and very few students are now arriving late to school.
All parents will be receiving a letter today about the new school uniform. Please ensure that students return their reply slips as soon as possible. Andy Blair and his team will be in school next week next on Tuesday and Wednesday to measure students for their new jumpers and blazers.
We continue to keep all our senior students in our thoughts and prayers as they complete their final external exams.
Mrs M Kelly |
